Although it is difficult to get a credit card these days, it has not always been this way. In the past, all you needed to get a credit card was an address. You could guarantee that each week at least 3-5 pre-approved credit card applications would be sitting in your mail box. Millions of people took advantage of these offers.

Today, the economy is struggling and people are suffering financially due to misuse of their credit cards. Given that credit plays such a large part of our lives it is surprising that so many of us know so little about how to manage our credit.

If you are struggling with credit card debt, seek help now before it gets any worse. Many community centers offer classes in credit card management. Often these classes are held in several languages. There is also a national credit counseling service where you can get free help with your debt management.
